The campus appears to have experienced a complete power disruption (a blip) that caused large portions of the campus network to go off-line.  According to our monitoring systems, it appears that all but a couple of devices recovered properly.  Networking will address those in by Monday morning.
The Rice Graduate Apartments on Bissonnet had a power blip which show caused the network equipment to reboot.  One closet (2nd floor) did not come back up cleanly.  OIT/Technical Services is enroute to investigate.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) self-imposes a moratorium on system changes during finals each semester.  For the Spring 2015 semester, OIT will undertake only emergency fixes for core systems and applications used by faculty, staff and students between Saturday, April 25 and Thursday, May 7.  Status updates can be found online: http://oit.rice.edu.
Campus Wide Power Blip
A brief power outage occurred campus wide resulting interruption of network services. Network management is monitoring.

The planned maintenance on the Isilon storage server was partially completed.  The Operating System upgrade and a security patch were installed, but firmware updates could not be completed within the time window.  The storage service is online and available.   The firmware updates will be rescheduled.   Please report any access issues to Hubert Daugherty (x4035)

The Shibboleth server became unresponsive tonight about 9:15pm.  The service has been restarted and appears to be working normally now. We are investigating what caused the outage.
4/12/15 7:21 Both docs.rice.edu and wiki.rice.edu Web sites began experiencing intermittent outages, starting around 18:20 today. IT has worked on the problem and all issues are resolved at this time.  If you still experience issues with either of these sites, please log a problem ticket at help.rice.edu.
4/9/15 16:35 04/09/15 4:23 Dropbox service issues were resolved at ~16:00 today.  The web interface is operational and users can now pickup or dropoff files.   If you experience any Dropbox issues after 16:00 today, please log a problem ticket at   help.rice.edu or call the Help Desk at 713.348.4357.
