OIT Networking will be performing maintenance on the network switches in Mudd building.  During this time, users will experience intermittent network connectivity.  Notification will be sent when the work has been completed.
The Development Exchange users can now  access their email boxes.  If you have any issues with your Exchange email please open an RT help request ticket.

Proofpoint maintenance has been deferred for tonight and will be rescheduled for implementation. No configuration changes have been made.

This is affecting wireless service on some floors of the building. Network Management is investigating.
On Monday (1/18/2016), from 5:00 am until 7:00 am, Rice's Networking Team will perform additional maintenance on the campus wireless network.  During this time period, wireless services will be available intermittently. After this timeframe, if you experience any issues with using the wireless network, please contact the OIT Help Desk via phone (713-348-4357), web (http://helpdesk.rice.edu), or email (helpdesk@rice.edu). The wireless software upgrade is postponed 24 hours, and will happen on Friday, 15 Jan 2015 at 0400.  
Based on a recommendation from our wireless vendor a software upgrade to implement a patch will need to be done starting st 0400 on Thursday AM.  Networking personnel will be on premise to perform this exercise.  Users will experience intermittent connectivity during this upgrade. 
Network Security Maintenance
IT Security Office will be performing maintenance on one of the network security devices on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm.  No downtime is expected.  Notification will be sent when the work is started and completed.
The hardware fault was determined and the failed device was replaced.  All work is complete and all network equipment is up and operating normally.  Thank you!  
The planned network maintenance for Anderson Architecture and McNair Hall is complete.  OIT/NTDCO has detected an issue with the 2nd floor of Allen Center and is working to resolve that issue at this time.  An update will be forthcoming.

From 1:30 to 2:30 on-campus users attempting to access off-campus Internet sites may have been unable to do so.  This issue was detected, and on-call staff investigated, but were unable to find a Rice infrastructure issue before the situation improved.  At present, this appears to be an off-campus issue, but we will continue to seek a root-cause. Today's maintenance on Storage, Crate and RNAS is complete. Please contact the Help Desk (x4357) if any issues need to be addressed.
OIT will perform a series of rolling reboots across three storage solutions beginning at 8:30am Storage.rice.edu (individual storage and department shared storage) Crate (scratch storage space for researchers) RNAS (storage solution purchased by departments for archival storage, not research related) These services will remain online for most of the rolling reboot. Expect intermittent connection interruptions.
