A new Rice Owls authentication certificate will replace the expiring certificate at 6AM on Thursday morning.

Please accept the certificate the next time you connect to the secure wireless network with your laptop or mobile device.

The next time you connect to Rice Owls, accept the certificate and log in with your NetID.

You only need to do this once - the first time you connect to the network with your laptop or mobile device.

RT Issue resolved

RT updates were not going through. The issue has been resolved. You may need to re-enter your update if you were disconnected.

IT networking has determined that there was a networking issue for parts of Tudor Fieldhouse, impacting wireless. We investigated, and believe the issue to be resolved. If you have any questions about this issue, please contact Danny Eaton (x5233, dannyeaton@rice.edu)

The configuration changes have been completed at this time. We do not expect any further disruptions. Please report any problems you may encounter to x4989.

Email problem

An email problem has been reported and IT is aware and is working to resolve it. There will be a 5 minute outage on 2 of the 3 mail servers to modify the configurations which will fix the problem.

The DSPAM web interface problem has been identified and resolved.

IT is aware of and is working on an issue for some customers who can not access DSPAM via the web. We will update IT Alerts when the issue is identified and resolved.

There will be no access to rice.edu Email accounts. Messages will queue up for delivery when the maintenance is complete.

The Exchange service has been restored. IT is investigating the cause.

Exchange Email problem

IT is working to resolve a problem with exchange email. Currently customers can send but not receive email.

An active phishing attack is underway. Example of the "Warning!" message can be seen on Catch of the Day: http://catchoftheday.blogs.rice.edu/

Do not respond to messages asking for your password or threatening email termination if you don't click a link.

Around 5pm today, we anticipate search.rice.edu and a couple of other Python-based sites being momentarily unavailable as we reboot the server.

FE&P reported a brief power interruption across the campus had occurred which may have affected network services. They are currently working on the issue.

The wireless maintenance for Thursday 6AM has been completed as scheduled. Please contact the Helpdesk for any issues.

In order to improve the overall performance of Rice's wireless network, IT is going to be making some software improvements to the systems that support the wireless network in targeted buildings early Thursday morning, between 6AM and 7AM.

Password changing online

Apply.rice.edu is now accepting NetID password changes. The earlier problem has been corrected. Please submit a ticket if you notice any problems.

The installation of the new certificates for the Mail Servers is complete.

Switchport capacity is being added to the Mudd 109 server access switch with the addition of a new line card. No service interruptions are expected as a result of this work.
