Mail Maintenance Complete

The scheduled maintenance for the mail system has been completed.

All Rice.edu mail accounts are fully functional. The email maintenance that affected 1/3 of the campus email accounts was completed at 8:55 AM.

At 8AM tomorrow, Saturday, April 28, IT will work on the email server that experienced performance issues yesterday.

During the 30-minute maintenance period, email will be unavailable for approximately 1/3 of the Rice community.

Messages will be held during the outage and delivered when the hardware is restored to service.

Updates will be posted to the IT web site: http://it.rice.edu/

BlueBioU and DAVinCI are online and processing new jobs. We have taken corrective actions as recommended by the vendor to restore filesystem service. We will be monitoring system stability over the next several days until we are able to take both systems offline for scheduled maintenance on May 8.

Email restored

All campus email accounts are fully functional again. The previous problem has been resolved.

Approximately one-third of the campus email was affected by a server problem. The issue has been identified and is being resolved. Updates will be posted to the IT web site: it.rice.edu

Email disruptions

IT has received reports of email disruptions for some accounts. We are researching the issue and will post updates to our web site: it.rice.edu

We are experiencing filesystem issues on DAVinCI and BlueBioU. At this time DAVinCI and BlueBioU are not accepting new job submissions while we work to resolve these problems.

DAVinCI and BlueBioU have resumed normal operations. Users who had jobs running on either system Sunday should check those jobs to see if they completed successfully or not. Any new problems should be reported to the Help Desk.

We are experiencing a problem with the $SHARED_SCRATCH filesystem on BlueBioU, and all filesystems on DAVinCI. At the present time the $SHARED_SCRATCH filesystem on BlueBioU is unavailable. None of the filesystems on DAVinCI are available. Therefore, the system is not accepting logins at this time.

Brief power interruption is being experienced across the campus due to thunderstorm. This may affect network service both wired and wireless.
