Proofpoint is an automated system that was installed between our email servers and the Internet in February, completing phase one of this email security initiative.

In phase two, the software began scanning for PII (personally identifiable information) contained in email messages and attachments sent to non-rice.edu addresses.

In the next phase, outbound messages containing multiple pieces of PII will be blocked.

Please contact the IT Security Office at security@rice.edu if you have questions regarding Proofpoint or other information security questions.
