On Monday, a Rice University email account was compromised and used to distribute a heavy stream of spam and phishing messages, both within Rice and to external addresses.
The flood of junk mail interrupted regular email traffic within Rice and led to blacklisting by four external mail servers, who have temporarily blocked all messages from Rice.edu addresses. The IT email administrators are working to get rice.edu off the blacklists.
Please remember to use strong passwords and to NEVER reveal your password to anyone. No one at Rice will ask for your password, and you never have to verify your account.
Email performance updates will be posted to the IT web site: it.rice.edu
