OWLSPACE services will be down Wednesday morning for maintenance and SAKAI software upgrades.

All users will be unable to use Owlspace between 5:00 and 8:00 while all the Owlspace systems and the SAKAI software are being upgraded.

Campus Power Blip

The Rice University Campus experienced a power blip.  Some network services will be impacted and will reset.  OIT/Networking and Technical Services will monitor and deploy resources for any lasting outages.  You may need to reboot your networked device as a result.  Thank you for your understanding.

One of the network switches in McNair Hall / Jones Graduate School IT closet 355 rebooted.  We will be monitoring the equipment (as usual) for further issues.  Users may need to reset their devices to get back on the network.  Thank you for your understanding.  - OIT / Network Management and Technical Services

The CAS servers have been restarted and everything should be working properly now.

The CAS servers had a minor update applied to them this morning and are being restarted. Anyone currently logged in through CAS may need to re-authenticate. 

A notice will be posted once the restart is complete.

  • Crate (scratch storage space for researchers)
  • RNAS (storage solution purchased by departments for archival storage, not research related)

On Sunday at 7pm OIT will perform a series of rolling reboots to re-balance services across the system: 

  • Storage.rice.edu (individual storage and department shared storage)
  • Crate (scratch storage space for researchers)
  • RNAS (storage solution purchased by departments for archival storage, not research related)

These services will remain online for most of the rolling reboot, with only intermittent connection interruptions.  Updates will be posted online: it.rice.edu.
