Tomorrow, Wednesday, 9-23-2015 from 3:00 am until 5:00 am central time, Rice Networking will be performing maintenance on some of the network equipment that connects Rice to the Internet.  This work is to install an update that has finally become available to us and is designed to address the problem that has caused several campus Internet outages since last June.

During this maintenance, all traffic between Rice and the Internet will be disrupted.

If you are off campus, you will not be able to reach on-campus services such as Rice WebMail or Owlspace.

If you are on campus, you will not be able to reach outside services such as Google, Facebook, CNN, Netflix, etc.  On-campus services will remain accessible by people on-campus during this time.

Rice’s phone system, RUPD/EMS Dispatch, and other life-safety services will be unaffected.

After this outage, if you experience any further disruptions to your access to and from the Internet, please contact the Rice OIT Helpdesk at 713-348-HELP.

As always, thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.
