Good morning,

I wanted to provide you with an update on the two internet outages we 
experienced this week.

This summer as part of the RiceNet3 project, we installed a new set of 
hardware equipment at the border of our network. This hardware improved 
both bandwidth and security of our network connections. However, we 
learned that the equipment has a bug. We obtained a patch from the 
vendor on Monday. We are confirming that it will resolve the problem 
and that it it will not have any adverse effects. Once we have this 
confirmation, we plan to install the fix early morning (3-5am) on Friday 
or Saturday.

I will send another update Wednesday evening to confirm the scheduled 
time for the update. When the update is being applied, the Internet will 
be intermittently unavailable.
