From 1:30 to 2:30 on-campus users attempting to access off-campus Internet sites may have been unable to do so.  This issue was detected, and on-call staff investigated, but were unable to find a Rice infrastructure issue before the situation improved.  At present, this appears to be an off-campus issue, but we will continue to seek a root-cause.

Allen Center network connectivity will be offline through Wednesday, December 30 due to scheduled power maintenance.  Notification will be sent when network connectivity has been restored.

Per communication from the Housing and Dining department, power will be unavailable in the following buildings from 6am - 7pm on Monday, December 28, 2015: Brown College, Duncan College, Jones College South, and McMurtry college.  Power in Jones College North is scheduled to be unavailable until January 7, 2016.  Notification will be sent when network connectivity has been restored. 

The maintenance performed on the systems that supports NetID websites and Subversion is complete.  All are back online.

IT Networking will be performing maintenance on the network switches in Jones and Martel colleges.  During this time, network access will be unavailable.  Notification will be sent at completion.

IT Networking will be performing maintenance on one of the network security devices from 5:30-7:00pm.  No downtime is expected.  Notification will be sent when the work is complete.

Blogs.rice.edu has been restored by the vendor.  There are some sites recovering and we will continue to monitor progress and work with the vendor to restore all sites.

A part of our system which redirects your web connection to an encrypted (https) session is currently not working.  Our staff is investigating the issue. For the time being, if you are having difficulty accessing a website, please type in the full website URL (i.e. https://docs.rice.edu).
