At approximately 2:28 pm today, one of the core network routers in Rice's primary data center failed when a hardware component went off-line.  The redundancy architecture worked partly, but the traffic load caused the redundant pair to become unresponsive.  Because of this failure, most of the systems in the data center became unavailable to campus and Internet clients.  The system has been partly restored, and no further disruptions are expected at this time.  OIT teams will be continuing to evaluate the health of affected systems and will restore them as needed.
