There are multiple phishing scams pretending to be from Information Technology, the Office of Information Technology (OIT), or IT.

 The Subject may contain one of the following:

  • Re: IT Alert
  • Fwd: IT Urgent Notice!
  • Fwd: Security Alert

Delete this message and similar future messages. Do not respond or take action on the phishing message.  Phishing is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire private information, such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. While annoying, the best action is to ignore them.  Additionally, Rice OIT will never ask for your User ID or password via email. For current IT Announcements:
