System updates to the Central Email system will begin at
5:00am. These updates will require restarting the Email
system which will prevent access to Email service for a
brief period of time (about 10 minutes). Incoming Email
will be queued and delivered after the maintenance. An
OIT-alert will be sent out after the completion of the
work.

The planned network maintenance on Mudd Border is now complete.  Please contact the OIT Help Desk at 713-348-4357 for any issue. 

The planned network maintenance on Mudd Border will start at 5am. An OIT-alert will be sent out upon completion.

The software upgrade for the network devices in Duncan Colleges was completed at 8:00 AM.  If you have difficulties in connecting to the network, please contact the OIT Help Desk at 713-348-4357.  Thank you for your understanding.

The OIT Network Management department will be doing a software upgrade for network equipment in Duncan College.  The upgrade will be done on an individual switch basis.  Each switch will be down for approximately 15 minutes to complete the upgrade.  Both wired and wireless connectivity will be impacted during this exercise.  An all clear will be sent upon completion.  Thank you for your understanding.

The upgraded NFS server for clear.rice.edu is now in place.  No reboot of the compute nodes was required.

The NFS server for the clear.rice.edu collection of systems is now ready to come back into service after an operating system upgrade.

This will happen between 8:00AM and 8:30AM today and may involve rebooting the compute nodes to work correctly.  Any users on clear will receive notification prior to the reboot.

OIT Networking will upgrade the software on the network switches in the Anderson Clarke building at 6am.  During this time, network access will be unavailable.  Notification will be sent at completion.

The clear compute node, ring.clear.rice.edu, is now on-line with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2.

The system water.clear.rice.edu will be off-line starting today, 7/6/2016, around 3:00PM for its Operating System upgrade.

The updated clear compute node, sky.clear.rice.edu, is now available for use.  Please create an Request Tracker ticket if there are any problems with this node.

Each of the remaining clear compute nodes, glass.clear.rice.edu and water.clear.rice.edu will be upgraded as soon as possible.

The software upgrade of the Mudd network switches is complete.  It is recommended that users reboot their workstation prior to logging on.  Please contact the Help Desk (x4357) with any issues.
