The issue with inordinate spam leaking through the Proofpoint anti-spam cloud service has been resolved.  If you feel you are still experiencing an issue with spam, please contact the Help Desk at #4357 or at helpdesk@rice.edu.

We are noticing an inordinate amount of spam making it through the Proofpoint (anti-spam) cloud service.  We are currently investigating the issue with Proofpoint.  As soon as we get an update, we will send out a follow-up up message.

OIT Identity and Access Management completed the account maintenance shortly before 5pm today.

RNAS move complete

The migration of RNAS from the Hitachi to the Isilon is complete. If a client reports being unable to write to an RNAS share, have the client restart their system.

The source data has been preserved in a read-only state at \\rnas-archive.rice.edu

 

The RNAS move to the Isilon has been completed. Shares are ready for review.

 

RNAS is in read-only mode for final data synchronization to the Isilon.

During the maintenance, access to these servers and the old web pages served from them, will be unavailable.

Due to issues with RiceNet device registration system encountered last night, the Policy Routers maintenance scheduled for this morning has been canceled. We will post a new date on change control meeting. 

This evening, Networking detected an issue with the RiceNet device registration system that caused some client devices (printers, copiers, desktop systems) to be placed into a registration network instead of their normal network.  This has only affected some wired devices in campus buildings (potentially 1,300 of the 27,000 connected devices).  Data Center servers are not affected at all.  Networking has restored the registration database and is in the process of reconnecting devices.

If you see a device that is not properly connecting as it normally does to the network, please let us know by logging a ticket via https://oit.rice.edu/request-help.

We will post a notice when the system has been completely restored to normal service levels.
