This evening, Networking detected an issue with the RiceNet device registration system that caused some client devices (printers, copiers, desktop systems) to be placed into a registration network instead of their normal network. This has only affected some wired devices in campus buildings (potentially 1,300 of the 27,000 connected devices). Data Center servers are not affected at all. Networking has restored the registration database and is in the process of reconnecting devices.
If you see a device that is not properly connecting as it normally does to the network, please let us know by logging a ticket via https://oit.rice.edu/request-help.
We will post a notice when the system has been completely restored to normal service levels.
