Investigating

Some faculty have reported intermittent issues using computer audio in classrooms. OIT Learning Environments and Campus Services teams are investigating. **Please note, this does not impact any other room audio sources such as laptops, Mac computers or microphones in any rooms.** If you have a presentation that includes audio and plan to use the PC computer for an upcoming class, the Learning Environments team will be happy to meet with you at the start of your class to ensure that the audio is working properly. Banner 9 system maintenance has been completed. Please report any issues to the Help Desk (x4357).

Banner 9 will be inaccessible for urgent system maintenance. During this period, Banner 9 admin pages will be unavailable. Banner INB will be available if administrative access is required. All other Banner features - Esther, Edgar, etc - will be available. 

The Rice Webmail issues are resolved.

If you still experience issues, please start a new webmail session in your browser.

Some Rice faculty, staff, and graduate students are experiencing issues with Rice Webmail. Rice OIT is currently  investigating.

Duo - Normal Operations

The issue with Duo, our two factor authentication system, was corrected by Duo Security. 

They are continuing to monitor the situation to ensure that other problems do not arise, but we are back to normal.

 

Duo - Outage

Duo, our two factor authentication system, is experiencing an outage.  Any service or system protected by Duo may be unavailable.

Duo Security is aware of the problem and they are working to correct the issue.  Their status can be found at  https://status.duo.com/

We are continuing to monitor the situation and will update our own status page with updates at https://status.rice.edu/.

Our upstream provider (SETG) has resolved the hardware failure in their equipment. Websites that have intermittent connectivity should be stable now. Some sites may take more time for our routes to converge.

One of our upstream provider - Southeast Texas GigaPOP (SETG) has detected a hardware failure in their equipment. They are currently working to resolve the issue. No estimated time of repair yet. 

SETG is our access provider to Internet2, LEARN and other state institution.

A network switch in Mudd 230 rebooted affecting wired and wireless network services on half of the building. Network management is currently investigating.

OIT has completed patching of Cold Fusion web servers.

OIT has finished scheduled maintenance of Edgar/Esther.

OIT will be performing a reboot of Esther/Edgar servers to insure the stability and reliability of the Banner infrastructure.

The Rice Marketplace and Banner sync issue has been resolved. The requisitions and POs are syncing from Rice Marketplace to Banner successfully.

 

We have a number of Requisitions and POs stuck in the Banner Post phase. Error: "Message transmission to external system (Banner) failed". The Banner Middleware team is investigating. We will keep you posted. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

From 3-4pm today, OIT Networking will perform changes to the message provided to a user when attempting to authenticate to the connect.rice.edu VPN service.  Specifically, you will see changes to the following verbiage: "Duo Methods: type one: push,sms,phone, o your Duo numeric pin".  This work is not service affecting.  Notification will be sent at completion.

Jaggaer, the vendor of Rice Marketplace system has fixed the issue on the Jaggaer's Indirect Platform. Rice Marketplace is functional and working normally.
